"Imperialism, state policy, practice or advocacy of extending power and domination." (628)
In my opinion, imperialism is very present in "Alice In Wonderland" and even more specifically in the banquet scene. The red queen is making majority of the calls and is deciding what stays and what goes. Before Alice showed up, it seemed like she had no problem enforcing her will upon the others
and getting whatever she wanted. "Because it involves the use of power, imperialism has often been considered morally reprehensible." (628) Power is something that a lot of people want and will do whatever it takes to get it. However, when we are always searching for power there are usually a lot of negative connotations that come with it. We become obsessed with the idea of being in charge, we get greedy, and usually end up hurting a lot of people we care about. The Red Queen is obsessed with correcting Alice grammatically and does simply because she can. In my opinion, this is a way that the Red Queen makes sure she is always has dominion over others. Sometimes people use their power in different ways and take advantage of people in subtle ways. We can learn a lot from the Red Queen and her treatment of those around her. It is important to be responsible with the power we are given and to treat everyone around us with respect. To never belittle anyone and always remember that just a quickly as you received the power, it can also be taken away.

"The weak and childish, but cruel and treacherous native character may prevent the mistake of legislating for them for the present the mistake of legislating for them for the present at least as our equals," (647)
Sometimes it's hard to see who people really are, because we are so good at putting up a front. People are so good at being fake that sometimes I think they even forget who they really are. There are many different reasons why people feel the need to do this. Especially coming into college fitting
in is probably one of everyone's goals. One thing I admire about Alice is that whatever situation she is in, she is always herself. She never lets anyone tell her who to be and is confident in herself. Even when she's at the banquet and the Queens are giving her a hard time she's still true to herself. This is someone we can all learn from. When we are put in challenging situations, it is important to stay true to ourselves. At the end of the day who we decide to be is completely up to us. Although being ourselves is not the easiest thing, it's the best thing. "Always be yourself, express yourself, have faith in yourself, do not go out and look for a successful personality and duplicate it." (Bruce Lee)
